Bosom Buddies Muir Hall, George Street, Doune Wednesdays During Term Time |
|
Launching Wednesday 24th August 2011!!! Bosom Buddies is a new community group based in Doune and it is organised and run by mums just like you! We wanted to provide new mums, and mums-to-be with a place where they can meet other mums, share experiences and get support. Perhaps you are pregnant and are thinking of breastfeeding, well come along and chat to mums who are breastfeeding or who have experience of breastfeeding and find out what to expect, tips and they will try to answer any questions you have. "9 out of 10 women who gave up breastfeeding in the first two weeks wish that they had breastfed for longer" (Feeding Survey 2005) Accessing breastfeeding advice and support before you even have your baby may help you to get breastfeeding established. Maybe, you are a mum who is breastfeeding and would like to meet other new mums. Being part of a group such as this provides an opportunity to make friends but also can provide support to get you through any tricky patches. If your baby has siblings who are toddlers they are also welcome to attend. As well as getting support from the other mothers who attend; this group has the full support of our local Health Visitor Penny Scott (Doune Health Centre). Our Chair Alison Stewart is hoping to begin a Mother Supporter course through the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers in the near future and our Lead Practitioner Jacqueline Rae will be taking the Stirling Council run course 'Pre-Birth to Three'. Although this free service is provided by Red Kite Community Nursery there is no obligation for your child to attend our nursery in the future. It is open to any mum who wants to join and its aim is to support all mums and their babies.
